MicroPeel: $120 | Microdermabrasion: $75
As we age, exposure to the sun, elements, and environmental toxins takes its toll on our skin. The outer epidermal layer becomes thicker and more compact. The skin loses its elasticity and permeability. Age spots, blemishes, fine lines and wrinkles develop. Because of the thickened epidermis nutrients contained in skin care treatments cannot fully penetrate down to the living, dividing cells in the dermis. Microdermabrasion helps vacuum dead loose skin cells.
Microdermabrasion was first developed in Europe in 1992. Fine crystals are sprayed onto the skin using compressed air. This has the effect of sandblasting’ the outer layer of compressed dead skin cells.
Microdermabrasion can be combined with chemical peels (a “micropeel”). Chemical peels dissolve the bonds holding the outer epidermal layer onto the skin. This allows the nutrients in topical skin care treatments to penetrate down to the dermis. Micropeels can improve the appearance of fine lines and uneven skin tones, remove blackheads, reduce the pore size, and improve skin texture. Micropeels are safe on all skin types.
While most patients notice an improvement in the appearance of their skin after one treatment, a series of 6 treatments provides optimal results. Each treatment session takes about 30 minutes from start to finish. You can reapply your makeup and return to your daily activities immediately after your treatment session. A specific peel will be chosen at your initial consult depending on you skin type and ethnicity.
